Why your sales figure is not your profit
Busy days can hide a business that is losing money. Three numbers tell you the truth.
A full shop and a long queue feel like success. But sales only tell you how much money came in. They say nothing about how much stayed.
The three numbers to watch
- Sales: everything customers paid you, including transfers and POS.
- Expenses: stock, transport, data, rent, staff, and the money you take for yourself.
- What you kept: sales minus expenses. This is the number that pays for growth.
Where it usually leaks
- Prices set years ago, below what the item now costs you.
- Credit given to customers who have not paid back.
- Small daily spends, like fuel and data, that nobody writes down.
None of this is visible without records. That is why every SAKI SE plan starts there: a few minutes of logging a day turns a busy business into one you understand.
